What are we?

The Abbeyfield Haddenham Society at Stonehill house, is a residential care home for older people. It is not registered for nursing care or for the care of those suffering from dementia. The registered provider is the Abbeyfield Haddenham Society which is run by a committee of volunteers with a variety of professional skills. Whilst the Abbeyfield Haddenham Society is independent, it is affiliated to the national Society www.abbeyfield.com and conforms to its standards. It has charitable status.

Stonehill House is approved by the Commission for Social Care Inspection and is inspected at least twice a year. It has consistently received high praise for the standard of care offered and Inspection Reports are available on request. 80% of staff at the Abbeyfield Haddenham Society have achieved their National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 and all staff receive on-going training in a wide variety of topics.

Stonehill House has complied with the major regulations required by the National Care Standards Act 2000. These include many criteria that have now been withdrawn, such as minimum room sizes.

The philosophy of the Abbeyfield movement is to respect the individual and provide privacy with caring support in a family atmosphere. This is extremely important to the committee and staff at Stonehill House.
